Hey everyone! Here are some pictures from the garden. This year we've got strawberries, lemon cucumbers, okra, and mint. There are some flowers as well, and more herbs and flowers are forthcoming.

I know you knew this would happen. I knew too. I went on vacation, and when I came back, the broccoli was huge. Then the heatwave started, and the broccoli got burnt, so it got pulled, and I never got to take pics of it. I have older pics from a couple weeks ago, but I'll just make you wait a little longer till I get current pics. The basil is gigantic. The cukes look good. The okra is dead. The tomatoes .... mmm! We had the first one the other day, it was the most delicious. There are lots more on the vine. The periwinkle, got choked off by some weed whose leaves look a lot like periwinkle. And, the hosta's are in full bloom. So much to look forward too.

tomato fruit and okra sprouts!
i took these photos at dusk, they're not very good. the tomato is out of focus, and the colors are not very true. i'll have to try again sometime, but here are a few for now:

out of focus tomato:

the okra didn't take when we planted it in the bed, so I decided to start over. I soaked the seeds overnight and then put them in here instead of the bed. hopefully, they'll transplant ok.

Not a lot to report this week. Got a lot of weeding (and mushrooming) to do over the long weekend!

Things are growing!

This week, the rosebush was pruned, the tomato and broccoli are growing, but the tomato looks a little sad. Hopefully, it'll perk up. The geraniums are exploding. the lima beans and okra still haven't germinated, but the cucumbers have. This is a wideshot of the mainbed: Broccoli: Tomato:

week one

So my new project (aside from the garden) is to take weekly pictures of the garden and keep a visual document of how it goes. Here's pics from week one:

This is the main bed where we currently have a tomato plant in the far corner, lots of broccoli, cucumber, okra and lima beans from seed, rosemary and basil. We may add more herbs to the right side.

This is the back of my apt./front of my yard. We have vinca in the hanging baskets, periwinkle as a ground cover on the left side, and my neighbors hops going up the pillar.

This is the side bed where hostas surprise me every spring. We've added impatients to add some color.
